Withdrawal of Manuscript

Optical and Magnetic Materials Letters (OMML) recognizes that, in exceptional circumstances, authors may request to withdraw a manuscript from the review or publication process. This policy outlines the conditions, procedures, and responsibilities associated with manuscript withdrawal to maintain the integrity of scholarly publishing.

Conditions for Withdrawal

A manuscript may only be withdrawn under legitimate and justifiable circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • Discovery of significant errors in data, analysis, or methodology prior to publication
  • Accidental duplicate submission to another journal
  • Ethical concerns, such as undisclosed conflicts of interest or potential research misconduct
  • Author(s) inability to complete revisions or comply with publication requirements

Manuscripts must not be withdrawn to avoid unfavorable peer review comments or editorial decisions, as this is considered unethical practice.

Procedure for Withdrawal

  • The corresponding author must submit a formal written request to the editorial office, clearly stating the reasons for withdrawal.
  • The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board if necessary, will evaluate the request to ensure compliance with ethical standards and journal policies.
  • If approved, the withdrawal decision will be formally communicated to all authors and, where applicable, to assigned reviewers.

Responsibilities of Authors

  • All co-authors must agree to the withdrawal request, and confirmation may be required by the editorial office.
  • Authors must ensure that the manuscript is not submitted or published elsewhere without proper withdrawal from OMML.

Consequences of Improper Withdrawal

  • Manuscripts withdrawn without valid justification or in violation of ethical standards may be recorded in the journal’s database.
  • Repeated or intentional misuse of the withdrawal process may result in restrictions or sanctions on future submissions to OMML.

Withdrawal After Acceptance

Withdrawal of a manuscript after formal acceptance is strongly discouraged. In exceptional cases, authors must provide a detailed explanation. The journal reserves the right to document or publicly note such withdrawals to ensure transparency and protect the integrity of the scientific record.

Editorial Oversight

The editorial team of OMML ensures that all withdrawal requests are handled fairly, transparently, and in accordance with COPE guidelines. Withdrawal is considered a serious action and all cases will be properly documented.
